And so that's just what I did for one of our latest events at work: Did My Own Makeup. I think it's the ultimate test of your makeup application skills. Just like Kate Middleton who did her own makeup for her wedding, I road tested my skillz and chose to do my own face.
Not too shabby, don't you think? I could've retouched my foundation and lipstick before taking this picture, but whatevs. I take full credit for this face (and my parents for my genes. LOL).
Face
Avon Ideal Oil Control Pressed Powder in Neutral
Oil control wise, it held its own with enough primer. I'm just really oily on the T-zone, hence the gleam.
Ellana mineral finishing powder in Espresso Con Panna
Cheeks:

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion
In2It Waterproof Eyebrow Color
Maybelline Magnum Mascara
Avon Smooth Mineral Eyeshadow in Mocha Goddess all over the lids
Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Oil Slick
Applied on the upper lid and on the outer V of the lid make the look party-appropriate and to give my eyes an illusion of a crease.
| The Urban Decay Primer Potion is godsend! Applied this eye makeup around 8 AM and retouched only once at 5 PM. The event lasted till 930 PM, and look at that minimal creasing! |
Lips
Lip Ice Strawberry Lip Balm Sunscreen Protectant with SPF 15
All in all, I am happy that my small collection of drugstore and high-end makeup brands all complement each other. I am proud to say that none of my makeup goes to waste. I use them all! That's because I am very particular with my makeup products. I don't buy them just to try them out. When I buy makeup, I make sure I will use it or I will not buy it at all. Frugality at its finest. LOL.
Also, knowing how to do decent makeup on yourself is really an invaluable skill that every girl should know. You don't need to take makeup lessons; there are a lot of resources online - Youtube, blogs, forums. So go ahead and dare to do your own makeup, too :)
