My Makeup Wishlist Two-Oh-One-One

You have to agree: makeup is such a wonderful and glorious thing to stop yourself from buying. Once you get hooked, you're hooked for life! Here I am thinking that I already have all the makeup that I need and what's left to do is restock on my essentials. But lately, I just can't stop myself anymore from wanting more, more, more!

It's been a year since I listed my makeup wish list and bought almost everything on it! It's a good thing I kept that list so as to have a perspective on what and what not to buy. This time, with more than a year of dabbling with makeup, I again make up a list to keep me on track with my purchases. Hey, makeup is great, but not all good products come cheap! It's a good thing I never get to learn that the hard way.

Win 3 Qiwellness Spa GCs from Project Vanity!

If it's not yet obvious, I love joining Project Vanity's blog contests. Why wouldn't I? When Liz gives away something through her blog, expect it to be massive! Her last contest, Asian Secret's Great Asian Giveaway, was so epic, she ended up giving P12,000++ worth of makeup and an iPod Touch!

Liz's new contest is a little more modest but a lot more generous. This time, Liz lets you and two friends experience the awesomeness of Qiwellness Spa by giving away three P1,000 GCs! With these GCs, winners can choose a 90-minute Qitranquility, Qivitality, or Qireflexology signature massage.

All you have to do is:

1. Like the Project Vanity Facebook page.

2. On your personal profile, paste this and tag the names of two friends: "I want to take @____ and @____ to Qiwellness spa for a free 90-minute massage. Visit this link for more details: http://www.projectvanity.com/projectvanity/2010/12/13/contest-alert-win-three-qiwellness-spa-gcs.html"
3. Simply email Liz a screenshot of your post to liz [at] projectvanity.com or upload the screenshot and give her the link so I know you joined. You can use Plixi to upload stuff.

And here's who I am taking!

Win a P100 Ukay Manila Gift Card!

It's no secret that I LUUUURVE ukay ukays (thrift stores). There's something fulfilling about scoring a great dress among racks and racks of clothes. It's the thrill of the hunt, as they say, and in this case, it's the thrill of a bargain hunt. My best ukay find so far has got to be this wedding dress that I got for a mere P100!

It doesn't look that great yet, as I still have to make some alterations to it. STILL. P100.
When I say I buy everything from ukay shops, I mean it.

The white cardigan and the red dress that I wore to The Vanity Fair are all thrifted.
This gray cover up that is perfect for taking the spotlight away from my thunder arms.

The dress and the pink cover up that I passed off as Urban Chic to the Sony 3D World Launch, yup, you guessed it: THRIFTED.

Even to this very basic white shirt that's perfect for gallivanting in the city.
But not everyone's blessed with enough ukay mojo to score it big in thrift stores. I myself wish to get a  Marc Jacobs bag or a Vivienne Westwood somewhere in those piles and piles of clothes (hey, a girl can wish!) And for those who do not have the time nor the patience to scour ukay shops, there's Ukay Manila.

Unlike most online thrift stores, Ukay Manila is like your personal ukay shopper. You can be sure that what you're getting are truly one of a kind pieces. I personally haven't bought anything from the store as they have yet to stock on plus size clothes (please =D), but I have always been in awe of the collections they come up every month. I even check the online store before I hit ukay shops just to have an idea of what to buy for myself. I'm also waiting for their shoe line Love Walks In to restock so I can get a pair.

But if you're not like me who has the patience to go through rows and rows of clothes, great news! Ukay Manila just launched their new Ukay Manila gift cards! You can give them away to friends, girlfriends, aunts, sisters, and practically anyone who would appreciate a romantic, vintage-feel style to their wardrobe.

But wait, there's more. Ukay Manila is giving away 10 P100 Gift Cards to 10 bloggers! Here's how:

To celebrate the launch of our new gift cards, we’re giving away ten special Christmas gift cards worth P100 to ten girls (or guys) who’ll help us spread the word.  It’s a super easy contest that anyone with a blog can join. Here’s how!

1) Blog about Ukay Manila’s new gift cards with a link to ukaymanila.com and the Gift Card category.
2) Comment on this entry with a link to your blog post and your email address. That’s it!
3) Contest is limited to legitimate blogs only. Entries from “contest blogs” will not qualify.

All entries must be submitted on or before December 15, 2010 (Wednesday). The first ten girls to submit their blog post following the correct mechanics will receive their prizes in the mail, and get their blog posts featured on Ukay Manila. You can use your winning gift card on any item at Ukay Manila until it expires on June 15, 2011.

Please take note that the gift card is not convertible to cash, and follows the terms and conditions stated in the product page.

Happy blogging and good luck!

So what are you waiting for? Shop for your friends or yourself, and shop thrifted!

A Year in Fashion and Beauty (also 20 gifts to give away this Christmas!)

It's been almost a year (10 months, actually) since I started writing for The Philippine Online Chronicles' Beauty and Fashion channel. I was part (and still am!) of the first few contributors, and I am proud of what our little pool has accomplished.

As a great way to cap off our year and all the articles we've written, I've decided to incorporate A MAJORITY of our articles in my (not top 10 but) Top 20 Beauty and Fashion Items to Give Away This Christmas. I hope you have fun skimming through our channel's previous articles as much as we had fun (and still having fun!) writing them.

Merry Chrismukkah/Christmas/Non-Denominational Holiday, Friends!

Shopping for Christmas decorations at Dapitan Arcade

I don't know about you guys, but in our household, decorating for Christmas is srz bznz. Sure, we're not as loony as those who put up decorations as soon as the Ber Months hit, but as soon as November 3 steps in,* my parents become rabid Christmas Decorating Committee Members as they unpack the boxes of lights, ornaments, and, of course, our Christmas tree. Decorating for Christmas with the Ruizes is a process. It really does not stop once the tree is up. And for this year, my mother's crazy furnishing brought us to Dapitan Arcade.
