Hello, friends! I finally bought a dot com!

All this talk about establishing this blog as a writing portfolio of sorts finally made me decide and just get a domain.

For one, when you’re in your late 20s, the words “silly” and “girl” should never be part of your online moniker anymore. Hello, Lola Girl.

Second, silly girl waves is just a mouthful, won't you agree?

But Why Maraisms?
  Awesome with a capital M!         Maraisms_1289233847600
The blog formerly known as maraisms

To those of you who knew me way before this blog, I really was (am?) maraisms@livejournal.* Silly girl waves is my first attempt at blogging publicly after friends locking (and not to mention oversharing) six years’ worth of entries over at Livejournal. I did not turn out to be one of those big name bloggers out there (I blame it on friends locking), but in a way, this little online space of mine helped me get the jobs I have right now.

One would think that I’d throw the key into the sea and never look back again, but my friend Z, soon-to-be Brand Manager of the entire fuggin’ Biggest Consumer Electronics Company in the Philippines, told me to just stick with maraisms. Hey, it may sound passé, but it has great recall and it already has my name in it.

I do not intend to market my blog as the next big thing; I just want to make it my own. What better way to do that than to brand it with my own name**-- with all the eccentricities, the quirks, and the misadventures that come with being, well, me!

Who knows? Maybe when I finally make up my mind about the direction this blog will go, a redesign might be in the works! But for now, my sixty-one anonymous readers, please update your links,*** and thank you for bothering to read what I have to say.

Much love,
The blogger formerly known but now known again as Maraisms.

*Colleagues and future employers, please do not judge me. I was very young then. LOL!
**Which means bitter according to the Bible.
***Although sillygirlwaves.blogspot.com is still operational.

$10 for a year :) Google App registered mine through GoDaddy, but I think it's better if you buy your domain directly from GoDaddy instead.

Hassle sa breast if you don't know anything about domains, etc. I still can't figure out my RSS feed =/
